2017 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit of Elite Universities Held in Chengdu

Over A hundred of Universities attending the Summit



Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit of Elite Universities & the Presidents’ Forum (Summit)was held in Chengdu

Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center on May 10, attracting over a hundred of heads of universities and 

colleges from both China and abroad, including US, UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Italy, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Israel,

Japan, Macao. A total of 500 delegates who are world’s top experts in innovation and entrepreneurship, university and college 

teachers teaching innovation and entrepreneurship, students from universities in Chengdu, main media gathered together, under the

summit theme of “A shared Future through Innovation”, to discuss how to solve the bottleneck problems in innovation and entrepreneurship,

and to share their ideas and experience in cultivating innovative talents. 


The Summit was supervised by Ministry of Education, organized by China Association of Higher Education,The Innovation & Entrepreneurship 

Education Alliance of China and the People’s Government of Chengdu municipality, and sponsored by Education Forum for Asia Training Center, 

Education Bureau of Chengdu Municipality, co-sponsored by Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Branch of China Association of Higher 

Education. 



Aaron Ciechanover, Nobel prize winner, academician of the Israeli Academy of Humanities and Natural Sciences, John Howkins, Father of the 

Creative Economy, Partner in the Creativity Group, Deputy Chairman of the British Screen Advisory Council, Mark Pagano, President of The 

University of Washington Tacoma (UW Tacoma), Andrew J. Deeks, President of University College Dublin, Yanagizawa Akira, President of Nippon 

Institute of Technology, Li Lei, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Hosei University, Peter Ling, vice president of 

University of Media and Communications of RMIT University, Australia, Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, President of Shobit University, India, Rajdeep 

Pakanati, Vice Dean of Jindal Global University, India, Ayelet Giladi, Academic Manager, From Birth to University, Early Childhood Programs, 

the NCJW Research Institute for Innovation Education, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Mohammad Asghar, Former President of NUST, Pakistan, 

Yi Fuxian, Senior Researcher at the University of Wisconsin have attended the dialogues in the event. 


Experts from home, including: Li Yuanyuan, President of Jilin University, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Gao Wenbing, 

Secretary of the Party committee of Central South University, Director of the innovation and entrepreneurship education branch of China Higher 

Education Association, Xu Fei, President of Southwest Jiaotong University, Chen Wenxing, President of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Zhang Zongyi, 

President of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Xuan Yong, Secretary of the party committee, Zhejiang International Studies 

University, Xu Weilin, Vice President of Sichuan University, Man Baoyuan, Vice President of SNU,Shandong Normal University, Sheng Zhenwen, 

President of Shandong Xiehe University, SUN Hongbin, secretary-general of The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of China have 

attended the meeting. 

The Summit was presided over by YAO Wang, Senior advisor of Baoao Forum for Asia, Secretary General of Education Forum for Asia, JI Ping, 

vice chairman of China Association of Higher Education, former deputy director of Department of Development Planning, Ministry of Education, 

CHEN Hao, vice chairman of China Association of Higher Education, secretary-general of The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of China. 

TIAN Rong, Member of the Standing Committee of Chendu Municipality, and vice mayor of Chengdu Municipality, QU Zhenyuan, chairman of China 

Association of Higher Education delivered a speech. The delegates, delivering an inspiring keynote speech or participating in the roundtable dialogues, 

expounded the cultivating of innovation and entrepreneurship in universities at the times of globalization, the close connection between society and 

economy, and shed thought-provoking light on the hot issues, such as “Internet+Innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities” “curriculum 

system of innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities”.  




The Entrepreneurial Colleges & Universities Dialogue Summit, one of the sessions of the Conference, has been held over the last two years and has 

gained great support from the Ministry of Education and Chengdu Municipality. With the brainstorm it stirred among the experts from universities 

and colleges, the Summit will surely play a positive role in promoting and strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship education in Chinese universities.
