APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE ASIA FOREIGN

STUDY SCHOLARSHIP

(BEIJING FILM ACADEMY PROGRAM CHINA)

The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (Beijing Film Academy Program,China) is a full scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Beijing Film Academy. Education Forum for Asia (EFA) and Beijing Film Academy administer the recruitment and routine management of the program.

2 full scholarships are provided for the 2007/2008 academic year.

1. Types of Applicants, Duration of Scholarship, and Language of Instruction

1) This program sponsors graduate students only.

2) Duration of Scholarship: 3 years.

3) All courses will be taught in Chinese, which requires candidates are proficient in the Chinese language before starting study of a major.

2.  Application

Applicants should apply to Education Forum for Asia via the Chinese embassy in their home country or the embassy of their home country in China. Applications will be accepted from the beginning of January to the end of April.

3.  Eligibility

1) Applicants must be non Chinese nationals in good health.

2) Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

4.  Details of the Scholarship

1)  Free tuition (includes research fees) and accommodation.

2)  Coverage of basic medical care.

3)  A 1000 RMB monthly living allowance will be provided.

5.  Application Materials

All applicants must provide the following materials correctly and truthfully.

1) Application Form for Asia Foreign Study Scholarship (China Program) (printed by Education Forum for Asia), one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English.

2) Application Form for International Students, Beijing Film Academy, one original and one photocopy, in Chinese or in English.

3) A notarized copy of highest diploma. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents.  Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have translations in Chinese or English.

4)  Senior scholars must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by two professors or associate professors.

5)  A study or research plan written in Chinese or English (no less than 400 words).

6)  A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (only for those whose period of study in China lasts over six months) filled out in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a stamped photograph of the applicants will be considered invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration when determining the time to take the medical examination.

The abovementioned materials should be received by the Education Forum for Asia by April 30th. Application materials will not be returned regardless of whether the applicant is accepted or not.

6.  Approval and Notification

1) The EFA will review all application materials. The application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the applicants are not qualified, the application materials are inconsistent with the recruitment regulations, or materials are incomplete.

2) Finalized placements, disciplines and duration of study are, in principle, not to be changed.

3) The EFA will have the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) sent to the applicant by July 31.
