Asia Foreign Study Scholarship Application Procedures 

Beijing Technology and Business University Program 

The Asia Foreign Study Scholarship -Beijing Technology and Business University Program is a partial scholarship program donated to Education Forum for Asia by Beijing Technology and Business University. The Education Forum for Asia Secretariat and Beijing Technology and Business University co-administer the recruitment and the routine management of the program.  

There are 5-10 partial scholarships provided for the 2014/2015 academic year

1.   The University

Established in 1950, Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) is a key university run by Beijing Municipal Government. The university is developing fast and becoming one of the leading universities in Beijing, and it attracting students from all over the world. 

There are 10 schools and 1 department in BTBU now that providing 2 doctoral program, 32 master programs, and 48 undergraduate programs.

In 2013, there are a total of 1365 staff and faculty members in BTBU, and 837 of them are full-time faculties, among them, there are 136 professors, 349 associate professors and lecturers. 

Research is one of the key responsibilities of BTBU faculty. In the last five years, professors in different disciplines have finished 118 projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China and National Social Science Foundation of China, 29 nation-level projects funded by Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and nearly 629 provincial and ministerial level research projects. The number of prizes awarded shows the rapid development of strength in research in last five years and indicates the progress of BTBU which is now one of the top universities in China in related disciplines.

BTBU shares very good relationships and cooperation with more than 81 top universities in countries and regions such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, etc. BTBU will be consistently devoted to collaborations with its international partner universities, and the university welcomes various forms of cooperation.

2.         Eligibility

(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health and nice behavior

(2) Applicants for Bachelor’s degree must have completed at least senior high school studies and should be generally under the age of 35; Applicants for Master’s degree must have completed at least Bachelor’s degree and should be generally under the age of 40; Applicants for Doctor’s degree must have completed at least Master’s degree should be generally under the age of 45;

(3)Applicants’ academic performance and language level should meet the admission requirements of relevant majors or subjects.

Beijing International Students Scholarship (BISS) is awarded to international students who are admitted by universities in Beijing and who have demonstrated exceptional talent in academics. 

According to the amount of the aid, BISS is divided into different levels that ranging from 5,000RMB /person/year to 30,000RMB /person/year. The scholarship is available for exchange students, Chinese language students, undergraduates, postgraduates, and doctoral students to do tuition fee remission (no cash back to applicants). Any other expenses are expected to be self-funded.

(1) Beijing Technology and Business University Application Form (download and printed out from the link at the bottom of this page), filled in Chinese or in English.

(2) Beijing International Students Scholarship Application Form (download from http://english.btbu.edu.cn/, optional).

(3) A notarized copy of the applicants’ highest diploma and academic record. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide verification documents.  Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations. Transcripts (notarized copy) in languages other than Chinese or English must have attached Chinese or English translations.

(4) A study plan written in English which shall be no less than 400 words. 

(5) The Foreigner Physical Examination Form (download from http://english.btbu.edu.cn/) should be filled out in English. 

(6) A photocopy of the front page of a valid passport.

    (7) Original Chinese language proficient certificate or a copy of that with HSK 5 or new HSK 4 with score 210 or above, if apply Chinese degree program.

        (8) The TOEFL iBT score of 70 points at least, or IELTS score at least 5.5 or the relevant certificates of English, if non-native English speakers apply the English program.

     （9）Submit all of the application materials to EFA Secretariat
