December 23, 2009, Boao Forum for Asia’s high ranking officials and Education Forum for Asia’s Secretary General Mr. Yao Wang were at the Boao Forum office with the Director for Vocational Exchange and Cooperation Center Across Taiwan Straits, Mr. Chen Hanqiang, about channeling cooperation and exchanges in education across shores. The China Preschool Education Development Foundation’s Board of Director’s member, Beijing Benhui Sustainable Education Development Association’s Vice President and the Chairman of the Education Assessment Services Institute, Mr. Lu Tianlong, were also in attendance.

     The 3 party talks revolved around the Mainland and Taiwan’s harmonious educational exchanges, and the full progression of talks concerning the sphere of mainland China’s elementary education and Taiwan’s participation in merging ideas. Education Forum for Asia has agreed to organize a ‘Chinese Culture Forum’ as well as arrange for educators from the Mainland to visit Taiwan and experience the Taiwanese education system first-hand in order to build understanding and share strengths between the mainland and Taiwan, and cooperate in order to build a relationship of sharing and collaboration.

     Mr. Chen Hanqiang is the former Head Master of both Pingdong University as well as Xinju Normal University, he served as Vice Director General of the Taiwan Education Department and then as the acting Director of the Taiwan Education Bureau,and he was a Member of the Legislation Committee. He has also spearheaded many exchanges between Taiwan and the Mainland including ‘High Level Across Taiwan Straits Vocational School Forum’, ‘Meeting of International Chinese Educators’, and the ‘Mainland Student Exchange to Taiwan’ to name a few.
