Initiated in Beijing China at the 2006 Annual Conference of the Education Forum for Asia, the Asian Students Photography Exhibition is open to young students in the Asia Pacific Region and beyond. It is committed to carrying forward the enormous richness of Asia’s ancient and modern cultures, to display the great diversity of customs and traditions, the magnificent geographic and demographic appearances of the region, to promote exchange in artistic and aesthetic photography, and to spread the values of Asian cultures all over the world.

The 1st Asian Students Photography Exhibition in 2006 was very successful with huge responses from all circles in the region. More then 700 entries from students of 14 Asian countries such as China, Hong Kong, Korea, Mongolia, and Vietnam made last event a great one. China State Councilor, Madam Chen Zhili, former President of the Philippines, Mr. Fidel Ramos, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia, Mr. Long Yongtu and other dignitaries were present at the Award Ceremony, and think highly of

its contributions to the culture exchange.

The 2^nd Asian Students Photography Exhibition, from 7 to 10 November 2007, was held in Xi’an city, Shaanxi province, China with the theme of ‘Students - Nation - Nature’.  The awarding ceremony was on Nov. 9, 2007 during the Education Forum for Asia 2007 - Euro-Asia Education Cooperation Conference. This event also aims to generate and cultivate students’ interests, and creativity in the art of photography by providing an excellent opportunity for students in the region and beyond to use their cameras from their own unique perspectives to observe changing society; touch the distinctive cultures, traditions, customs and history of their home countries; feel the growth and advancement of Asia, and to record the beautiful and memorable moments they find.

This years’ event was hosted by the Education Forum for Asia, China Youth Daily and Beijing Yin Hong Investment Co. Ltd., and was organized by Beijing Yin Se Shi Chuang Advertisement Co. Ltd., Education Forum for Asia Training Centre and China Rennin University. Beijing Youth Daily and Beijing Media Corporation Limited, the main supporting media organizations, have made great contributions to this Exhibition.

By collecting more than 986 entries from 12 countries and regions such as China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Mongolia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, etc, this year’s event enhanced the reputation and recognition of the Asian Students’ Photography Exhibition as a worldwide activity. Through competitive and careful selection, the Experts Panel produced the 1^st Prize (one person), 2^nd Prize (4 people), 3^rd Prize and Excellence Prize (50 people).

The youth of today are the hope for our future as well as the vehicle of our destiny. Asian Students Photography Exhibition aims to enhance exchange, mutual understanding and respect between people from different cultures and traditions in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
