China's famous expert on Southeast Asian trade and economics activities. His major current posts include deputy secretary-general of the China-ASEAN Business Council, secretary-general of the China-Thailand Business Council, as well as adjunct professor of China's University of International Business and Economics.

He graduated in 1981 from Nanjing University's department of economics.  Then in 1992, he went to Singapore's Institute of Southeast Asian Studies as a guest scholar.  He has visited various Southeast Asian countries multiple times, including Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Laos. He has been invited to more than 100 speeches on Southeast Asia's business activities in many Chinese cities including Beijing, Tanjin, Chongqing and Guangzhou.

He has published 14 books on economics, including We Went through Together, An Introduction to China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, Business Opportunities: Dialogue with ASEAN, Business Report from Southeast Asia, Moving toward the Open World  Discussion on Economics and Trade between China and Southeast Asian Countries, and Entrepreneur.

China-ASEAN Business Council is one of the five major communication and cooperation channels developed between China and ASEAN.  It was established in November 2001.  Zhu Rongji, China's Prime Minister then, attended the ceremony and made the announcement about the establishment of the Council.

1981年毕业于南京大学经济学系，1992年在新加坡东南亚研究院作访问学者。经常出访泰国、新加坡、印尼、马来西亚、菲律宾、越南、老挝等东南亚国家。应邀在北京、天津、重庆、广州等城市做过100多场东南亚商务报告。

写有《我们一起走过》、《中国-东盟自由贸易区概论》、《商机：对话东盟》、《中国-东盟自由贸易区》、《来自东南亚的商机报告》、《走向开放的世界-兼论中国与东南亚的经贸合作》、《企业家论》等14本经济学书。

中国-东盟商务理事会，是中国与东盟五大对话合作机制之一，是代表商界中国与东盟的合作对话机制，理事会成立大会于2001年11月召开，我国国务院时任总理朱镕基出席并宣告理事会正式成立。
