联合国教科文组织北京办事处简介

联合国教科文组织北京办事处成立于1984年，成立之初为联合国教科文组织科学及技术驻华办事处，自成立之日起，该办事处便在逐渐扩大它的项目范围及管辖领域。2002年1月，北京办事处发展成为东亚地区区域办事处，辖盖朝鲜民主主义人民共和国、日本国、蒙古国、中华人民共和国及大韩民国共五个国家。

有了更多的自主权利也就意味着需要负担更多的责任。对所辖区域内的成员国而言，北京办事处为他们提供了良好的交流氛围，起着信息平台的作用。北京办事处有着它独特的地方：它覆盖了占世界百分之二十五的人口，包括五个历史文化上相互关联的国家。然而，各国又同时拥有着显著的文化和社会差异，使用语言也大不相同。其中两个国家是高度工业化的国家，两个是发展相对平缓的国家，还有一个国家介于这两种情形之间并拥有丰富的人力资源。这些多元化元素奠定了该地区区域合作的契机。我们真心希望这种交流与合作关系不仅能在本辖区内持续发展，同时也能延伸到其他地区的其他国家。

现在北京办事处项目开展领域涉及到联合国教科文组织的四个方面：教育、自然科学、社会及人文科学，及文化。随着新部门的加入，办事处工作人员的数量也在逐步增加。社会及人文科学部是北京办事处的新建部门，2002年2月刚刚成立。不久我们还将会有传播和信息部门的加盟。自此，北京办事处将会成为涵盖联合国教科文组织所有负责领域的区域办事处。

UNESCO Office Beijing

UNESCO Office Beijing was created in 1984 as the UNESCO office in China for Science and Technology. The office has gradually expanded its activities and territory since then. In January 2002, we became a Cluster office for East Asia covering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Japan, Mongolia, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea (ROK). 

Greater autonomy comes more responsibility. Our office serves as the main platform to communicate with Member States in the representative region. The Beijing Cluster is quite unique. It covers 25% of the world population, consisting of five countries that are interrelated historically and culturally. There are, however, significant cultural and societal differences among the countries. The languages are totally different. Two are highly industrialized countries, two are less developed and one country falls in the middle, rich in human resources. This diversity comes a large potential for intra-regional (sub-regional) co-operation. This type of exchange and relationship we gladly encourage not only within our region, but also with countries even outside our region.

Today, the office represents UNESCO in four of its programmes: Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, and Culture. It is expanding in terms of the number of the staff as a result of the joint of new sectors. The Social and Human Sciences sector is a newly created sector which was established in February 2002. Soon we will have the Communication and Information sector founded. Thus, by then, UNESCO Office Beijing will be the cluster office covering all domains of UNESCO's mandates.
